Go IU Fight Fight Fight!

So there is justice in this world.  ESPN2 decided to show the last few moments of the IU/Wisconsin game.  Both teams are ranked, IU #25 and Wisconsin #2.  Wisconsin was on a 17-game winning streak heading into this game.  And our dear Hoosiers, notorious for breaking my heart, broke that streak - 71-66!

I'm very sad to have missed what was clearly a close game (thank you Yahoo! sports section), but I'm delighted to have caught the final moments to see Assembly Hall break into joyful riot upon winning the game.

Hurrah!

Pay per view is a PITA

I love men's college basketball.  I don't understand all of it - the fouls confuse me.  Nevertheless, I love the pace, watching the students do something they are so passionate about and something that I have no chance of ever doing since I'm such a klutz.  Sometimes I think I'd make an okay color commentator, but I doubt it given that I have a problem controlling my language when it comes to basketball.  Not to mention how biased I am towards whichever team I'm following. :)

Anyway, so this afternoon my friend tells me that Indiana is playing this evening.  Indiana is my alma mater.  Go, IU, fight fight fight - all that stuff.  I went ot IU when Bobby Knight was still head coach but when his aggressive controversial style was under review.  At IU, basketball is life.  Football season merely exists as a filler until the "real sport" starts.  Of course, I enjoy college football too, but it's not as exciting as basketball is at IU.  When I hear that IU will be playing, and I know they are a ranked team, I check the cable guide.  Good news - they are televised!  A rarity to find in New England.  Bad news - it's on pay-per-view for $21.95.  I call DH who is on his way home to tell him and see what he thinks.

Whee!  DH wants to buy the game!  We set the event timer and push BW through dinner and bedtime routine so that we can watch the game.  As I leave BW's bedroom, I see DH futzing with the remote and on the phone with RCN.  There is no basketball on the screen.  Something must be wrong.

The game started at 7pm.  By 7:10, I have little patience for watching DH be put on hold and the resetting of our cable box.  I keep telling myself that RCN will fix this and maybe they'll give us a discount on the game.  Patience is the right course, yes?

No.

At 7:15, having missed a sizable chunk of both the IU game and our backup game (BC vs. Hartford), I'm furious when RCN tells DH that we just can't get the game.  No explanation as far as I can tell.  DH says that we'll have to look into DirecTV or something similar.  Grr...

Now I barely want to watch BC - it's a non-conference game and 2 of the star players were kicked off the team for some sort of inappropriate behavior, so the team has been dragging.  *sigh*

Pay per view is a Pain In The Ass.
